Global Citizenship

For teaching our students everyone can be an activist...

The session Global Citizenship focuses on developing the students’ sense of responsibility and their awareness of different global issues, such as poverty and other inequalities, the climate crisis, and war, with the aim of creating well-rounded, kind and tolerant global citizens. In a world overshadowed by negative news, this program emphasises on how everyone, of any age, gender, or nationality, small companies and large ones alike, can all participate in significant activism to strive for a better planet Earth. The classes discuss the meaning of human rights and provides a blend of theoretical concepts as well as real life examples of countries and people fighting for their own or other’s rights. In a similar vein, the program raises awareness on breaches of human rights with conversations on discrimination, stereotypes, and other biases. This session also incorporates a class on skill-learning, notably teaching the students how to resolve conflicts that may arise in regard to these issues. The Global Citizenship program provides a trifecta of learning concepts, skills, and examples, to foster a kinder generation.

Sustainability

For teaching students on the science behind climate change...

The Sustainability session discusses the science behind climate change, offering insight into different theories such as the Albedo and Greenhouse effects. Additionally, the course dives into the individual impacts of climate change in important areas of human life; transportation, the food and clothes industry, migration, and ecosystems, highlighting the interconnectedness of our lifestyles with the world. The intersection of the scientific background required to understand the environment and the current crisis, with the tangible and real effects on human life and politics, provides a holistic and well rounded course, beneficial to the students. Particularly because conversations regarding our planet can appear discouraging, this course heavily emphasises on individual eco-friendly actions the students can easily adopt in their day to day life, such as recycling or upcycling. Larger national and international scaled projects are also discussed, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals, to promote motivation over futility.

Digital Do's and Dont's

For teaching our students how to navigate a media-driven narrative...

The new session we are developing, Digital Dos and Donts, looks into the modern technological advances the 21st century has witnessed. We introduce this new program by exploring the timeline of the internet, and how this tiny cable has totally transformed the way we communicate, research, exist… In the following sessions, we shift the focus onto the news and seek to convey the multiple ambiguities that come with keeping up with them, by delving into how we acquire, understand, and spread information. By doing so, we aim to raise awareness on issues that arise from this fast-track access we have to information today. Therefore, we then delve into the differences between traditional and social medias, the pros and cons, and how recently, social media is becoming the leading outlet for news. We also discuss the development and future of Artificial Intelligence, looking closer into risks and benefits, as well as incorporating discussions on generative AI, such as ChatGPT. With this program, our aim is to help the new generation learn how to navigate the digital world and to critically engage with the content they come across online.
